The Board of Governors Award for Innovation recognizes individuals or organizations that:

• approach projects, initiatives, relationships, work or service in a new or different way;

• and/or problem solve creatively to meet a need;

• and /or exhibit thinking that takes advantage of emerging opportunities with innovative concepts and approaches.

Of key importance is that these individuals, groups or organizations provide a role model to the college community, including Camosun College students. The Board of Governors Award for Innovation is an excellent opportunity to recognize the work of an individual or group affiliated with the college.

Selection criteria

The Board of Governors Award for Innovations was developed to generate broader community awareness and engagement in the breadth of learning opportunities at Camosun College. In addition, it provides a way to recognize innovation and encourage new ideas.

An award winning innovation should provide a meaningful benefit within the College or within the communities the college serves. In selecting winners, the award committee considers how well a nomination demonstrates some or all of the following guidelines:

•Demonstrates an innovative approach to learning, partnership, community involvement, applied research

•Meets a specific community or college need

•Takes advantage of a new learning opportunity

•Contributes to community involvement on campus

•Develops partnerships with organizations or communities

•Encourages cooperation with other organizations, community groups, associations or divisions external or internal to the college
